Bienvenue à Bridgehampton. Bridgehampton village is transforming itself into a little corner of Provence. Just look for the cornflower blue Citroën. For several years, Pierre has held court outside his eponymous restaurant on Main Street, attracting a French-speaking staff and local Francophiles who relish saying 'bonjour' as they arrive for 8pm dinner. Last summer, specialty food and gift shop Blue Provence opened across the street from Pierre's selling Poilâne bread. At the other end of town, Almond makes the most superb frites around. But this summer two new luxe gift/home shops have moved in, both with 'maison' in their names: the just-opened Maison 24 and the soon-to-open La Belle Maison in the former Amy Perlin Antiques spot. Now all we need is Picard.
