Bridgehampton Needs A Market

Whether a victim of the crushing economy or a poor business plan, Bob's Village Market on Montauk Highway is gone. It closed for 'vacation' before the new year. As the inventory at Bob's thinned throughout last fall, shoppers encountered shelves that offered the impression a hurricane was imminent.  There is now a noticeable gap in our food shopping options.  And we have to cross the Highway. Bridgehampton needs a market in that spot.

Renovation on the building is now underway and the parking lot was just expanded with proper parking spaces towards Hildreth.
We hear that Citarella is moving in.  Good news...with the caveat that traffic does not snarl further on either Hildreth or 27.  We just hope that the Citarella crew is prepared to carry a longer list of staples than either the EH or Water Mill stores. Maybe the outdoor ice machine will even return? We'd be happy to send over our shopping list, just as we did when Bob moved in.

let's hope it's more like the old IGA than a Citarella, we don't need a high priced shop, just a reasonable place to buy fresh produce and meat year round
